The Aberdeen Law Project is delighted to share that it has been shortlisted for the ‘Pro Bono Award’ in the LexisNexis Legal Awards 2022.
LexisNexis launched their Legal Awards scheme in 2013 to “recognise and celebrate legal excellence across the legal sector”. The Project, which is entirely student led and operated, was nominated for its pro bono legal advice and representation clinics and programme of 15 community outreach initiatives that reach people across the North East of Scotland.
The awards ceremony will be held on 30 March.
Helena Siebenrock, Co-student Director, said: “I’m sure I speak for the whole Project when I say how thrilled we are to have been shortlisted for LexisNexis’ Pro Bono Award. The team do a huge variety of different work – from providing legal advice and representation to operating community outreach initiatives that help to reduce the justice gap – and it is fantastic to see the difference it makes recognised on a national stage.
“Student volunteers have proven time and time again that they can effect real change when they work together to support local communities and it has been the defining privilege of my time at university thus far to lead the Project’s excellent team alongside Victorie-Anne Gomez-Llorens.”
ALP is grateful for continuing financial support from the University of Aberdeen Development Trust.
