The Aberdeen Law Project is delighted to announce the appointment of James Grainger and Emma Jamieson as Co-student Directors.
James Grainger and Emma Jamieson, both second year law students, are succeeding Co-student Directors Helena Siebenrock, who stepped down in May, and Victorie-Anne Gomez-Llorens, who stepped down earlier in the year.
Anna Robertson, Chair of the Board of Directors, said: “What a tremendous year ALP has had under both Victorie-Anne Gomez-Llorens and Helena Siebenrock as Co-student Directors and latterly with Helena solely taking over the helm, they have been true inspirations to the community and a pleasure to work with. I am delighted to announce that James Grainger and Emma Jamieson will be stepping up as Co-student Directors; they have shown their drive, ingenuity, resilience and impressive abilities, during their time with ALP, in particular as Deputy Student Directors. I have full confidence that they will continue the mantle of our past successes and provide a fresh and exciting perspective in guiding the students and the Project into its next chapter.”
Helena Siebenrock commented, adding: “Leading the Project during my time as Student Director has been a rewarding albeit challenging experience during Covid-19. The Project has risen above this challenge fantastically and continues to do so as normality returns. It never fails to inspire me to see what incredible work students who are empowered in their ideas and guided in their work can do and the positive impact it can have.
“I have no doubt that James and Emma will continue to carry the Project forward and I look forward to seeing what both of them achieve in guiding the Project into its next chapter of leadership.”
Co-student Directors, James Grainger and Emma Jamieson, said: “We are both so privileged to be taking on the roles of Co-student Directors of the Aberdeen Law Project and lead a team of incredibly hard-working students. We are extremely grateful to Helena for her invaluable guidance during our time as Deputy Student Directors, and also to Victorie-Anne Gomez-Llorens, former Co-student Director, for her mentorship prior to her departure in January. During Victorie-Anne and Helena’s stewardship of the Aberdeen Law Project, they have navigated the challenges posed by Covid-19 and introduced a number of fantastic new initiatives which have gained national recognition. We aim to maintain this professional and exemplary standard of work.”
“We look forward to building on our current successes and continuing to support the North East community in bridging the access to justice gap.”
ALP is grateful for continuing financial support from the University of Aberdeen Development Trust.
