Bio
My name is Nina and I am a third year law student from Inverness. I am the Head of the Housing Sector within the Aberdeen Law Project.
Favourite quote?
“She believed she could so she did.” I think this is a very inspirational quote, especially for women which motivates them to break the glass ceiling.
How would you describe your experience of the Aberdeen Law Project?
My time at ALP so far has been both an invaluable and rewarding experience. I’ve helped to bridge the justice gap in the North East, with a particular focus on educating people on housing and property law.
Who or what inspires you?
The Scottish lawyer, Dame Elish Frances Angiolini inspires me. She was the Lord Advocate of Scotland from 2006 until 2011, having previously been Solicitor General since 2001. She has broke many records and was the first woman, the first Procurator Fiscal, and the first solicitor to hold either post.
Why do you do pro bono?
I believe that everyone should be provided with the knowledge and skills necessary to reduce the likelihood of a legal issue occurring in the first place. My pro bono work with the Aberdeen Law Project allows me to achieve this
What advice would you give to someone considering studying law at Aberdeen?
Make sure you like reading because there is a lot of it! And to ensure you have a good work/life balance in order to make the most of your time at university.
Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?
Somewhere in Scotland settled and happy, practising law. I also hope to have my own family one day too.
And lastly, what’s the dream?
Having a job that I am excited to get up for every morning!
