Students negotiate four-figure settlement for client’s water damaged property

The Aberdeen Law Project’s representation team is delighted to report that it has secured a client compensation for water damage caused by a supplier’s defective goods.

Amos Dahl and Karolina Navickaite negotiated with the supplier on the client’s behalf and, after outlining that they would begin a simple procedure claim if necessary, were able to successfully agree a four-figure settlement for the client.

The client said:  “Right from the beginning both Amos and Karolina were very professional, paid attention to detail and handled my case with great awareness and expertise.  They guided me step by step through the legal process whilst carefully explaining my options and continued to provide updates as the case progressed. With their diplomatic approach and clear knowledge of the legal system they were able to reopen communication with the respondent and negotiate effectively. I can’t speak highly enough of the Aberdeen Law Project as it helped me tremendously.”

Lead Adviser Amos reported: “This case was particularly difficult as communication had broken down between the parties and the respondent appeared unsympathetic to right their wrong. We were determined to get a positive result for our client and were ready to go to court if necessary. The settlement discussions went well however and it has been great to secure a result without the client having to go through the stress and inconvenience of court proceedings. This was a very rewarding case. The client only decided to fight on because of our help and we’re delighted to have secured the outcome that they needed - and really do deserve!”

Anna Robertson, Chair of the Board, commented: “Amos and Karolina have done a brilliant job in securing a four figure settlement for this client. It wasn’t an easy case and to have achieved the result the client wanted without going to court is testament to their hard work, dedication, and legal abilities. We are all extremely proud of them - once again showing what our student members can do for the community.”
