Student law clinic successfully obtained a four-figure settlement for a client in connection with a landlord dispute.

The Aberdeen Law Project (“ALP”) is delighted to announce they have successfully obtained a four-figure settlement for a client following their landlord’s failure to meet the statutory repairing standard, as well as the wrongful termination of their client’s former tenancy. Prior to ALP’s engagement in the matter, the client was left without functioning heating for a period of 13 weeks, resulting in significant dampness and mould developing within the property. In addition, following this incident, the client’s tenancy was wrongfully terminated by their landlord. Lead adviser Estelle Macaloney, alongside the team at ALP, guided the client through the process of seeking compensation. Through dedicated advocacy, ALP successfully secured a settlement which reflects the impact of the landlord’s actions on the client.

The client stated: “I want to thank Estelle and ALP for their exceptional work and unwavering dedication throughout my case. Their professionalism, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to achieving the best possible outcome were evident at every stage of the process. I wholeheartedly recommend ALP to any future client or employer seeking a legal professional who combines skill, dedication, and genuine care for their clients.”

Estelle Macaloney from ALP added: “I am delighted that, after what was a long and stressful process for our client, ALP was able to secure a settlement payment on their behalf. I would like to thank everyone at ALP who supported me throughout this case and contributed to achieving such a positive outcome. ALP remains committed to advocating for tenants’ rights and securing meaningful results for our clients.”
