Student law clinic successfully secures two separate four-figure sums in a consumer dispute

The Aberdeen Law Project (“ALP”) is pleased to report they have successfully secured two separate four-figure sums in connection with a consumer dispute.

Prior to ALP’s engagement in the matter, the client had purchased an unfit vehicle and attempted to resolve the matter independently, without success. ALP engaged in correspondence with the opposing party and successfully secured a four-figure refund in respect of the vehicle.

Following further dispute concerning a claim for inconvenience and distress, an application was made through Simple Procedure to the Sheriff Court. Lead adviser Levana Starkey and the ALP team represented the client at a Recall Hearing, leading written and oral submissions. Further settlement discussions then ultimately resulted in a four-figure sum in compensation being secured.

The client said: “ALP ensured everything ran smoothly, I can’t think of anything that could have been improved in terms of the service provided, Levana was very professional throughout and I was very impressed."

Levana Starkey from ALP said: “It has been an incredible honour to represent our client in the Sheriff Court. Leading the Recall Hearing was both a challenging and rewarding experience. I am extremely grateful for the support of the ALP team throughout the process and pleased that we were able to secure a positive outcome for the client.”
